Not totally sure where to put this one, but someone (Thanks, Deano) sent me The Surgeon of Crowthorne by Simon Winchester last autumn and it was every bit as good as he said it was.
Just bought Papa Spy by Jimmy Burns - about his publisher father who was a press attache (and spy) to the British Embassy in Madrid in 1940. Looks like a great read. Lots of interesting background, drama and betrayal, oh and some serious name dropping too.

I'm really glad you enjoyed it Montana I was just about to recommend the read when I saw that you had already done so.
The two volumes of Alec Guinness's diaries are an absolute delight - 'My Name Escapes Me' and 'A Positively Final Appearance'. His memoir 'Blessings in Disguise' - not so much, unless you are an actor or interested in the history of theatre.
